Winners named in festival barbecue event

The first Come-See-Me Festival "no pork" competition was Friday at Winthrop Lake. Winners were, first place, trophy and $300, Pickin' Porkers of Clemmons, N.C.; second place, trophy and gift, Slap Yo' Mama of Rock Hill; and people's choice, Southeastern Protective Pork Purveyors of Rock Hill.

On Saturday, 18 teams competed in a barbecue cook-off at Winthrop Lake. Winners were, first place, trophy and $1,000, Smokin' Cole's of Summerville; second place, trophy and $500, Pickin' Porkers; third place, trophy and $200, Southeastern Protective Pork Purveyors; and fourth place, ribbon and gift, Pork O' Butts of Indian Land, N.C.

The South Carolina Barbeque Association judged the competitions.

Tega Cay Lions honor graduating seniors

The Tega Cay Lions Club will honor 16 Tega Cay students from Fort Mill High School's class of 2008 for academic excellence on May 10.

The seniors receiving recognition are Erica Elizabeth Chapman, Weldon Elizabeth Deas, Michael Henry Dulcie, Eric Edward Fielden, Brittany Ann Fournet, Nicole Marie Fournet, Jason Andrew Hnat, Kelly Amanda Keziah, Caleb Joseph Klipowicz, Kaylee June Klixbull, Matthew Thomas Knowe, Daniel Jacob Koverman, Heather Joan McCartney, Brian Timothy McGarrity, Priscilla Ann McNulty and Ashleigh Neda Sheets.
