Pat Bunce honored by local woman's club

Pat Bunce was named volunteer of the year during the Woman's Club of Rock Hill's dinner and installation of officers April 9.

Bunce was recognized for service to the club and the community. She has been a club member since 2001 and served as first vice-president and president. Bunce has been involved in projects including the Come-See-Me Cafe and gift and garden shop, Gourmet Gardens, Victorian tea, yard sale, historic restoration and landscaping and rental committees. Bunce is involved in the First ARP Church of Rock Hill, American Red Cross, Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen, Hope Closet and the hospital auxiliary.

New officers for 2007-08 are Karen Kaylor, president; Judy McCardle, first vice president; and Joan Musselwhile, recording secretary. The club is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs.

Outstanding members honored by junior women

The Junior Woman's Club of Rock Hill recently recognized outstanding members of the year. They are Jennise Knight, board member; Gail Moore, regular member; Sandra Holeman, fundraising; and Julie Mentnech, new member.

New officers for 2008 to 2010 are Krista Howell, president; Misty Konow, first vice-president; Libby Love, second vice-president/orientation chair; Helena Miller, third vice-president; Katie Robinson, secretary; and Jennise Knight, treasurer.

AAUW recognizes named gift honors

The Rock Hill branch of the American Association of University Women honored a physician and four organizations April 29 with the AAUW Educational Foundation Named Gift Honors.

The honorees are Dr. Tracy Timony, first female chief of medicine of Piedmont Medical Center for her dedication to health care; the Children's Attention Home Charter School for its efforts to educate abused, neglected or abandoned children; Kiwanis Club of Rock Hill Terrific Kids program for more than 15 years in all public and private schools, recognizing students for improved classroom behavior, study skills or leadership; Rock Hill Central Child Development Center for preparing young students; and the York County Teen Health Center for services to meet the physical and mental health needs of ages 11 to 18.

The foundation is the world's largest philanthropic organization funding graduate and post-graduate education for women In 2007, the Rock Hill branch raised more than $4,000 for the foundation. For each $500 that a branch contributes, it may designate individuals or organizations as Named Gift Honorees.
