Coolfest celebration is Saturday in Rock Hill
Coolfest, a family event encouraging York County youth to make healthy choices, will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Target, 1900 Springsteen Road, Rock Hill.
The event is free and includes activities such as inflatables for all ages, a mascot competition, the Emmett Scott Boys and Girls Club step team, a York County Idol performance, Jake Haldenwang and the Highway 61 Blues Band, a game-show hour featuring former Herald editor Terry Plumb, Praise team dancers, a one-act play, Grupo de Latino dance group and power pop/alternative-rock band the Stellas. Keystone Substance Abuse services is sponsoring the event.
South Pointe choirs present spring concert
The South Pointe Choral program will present "The Colors of Our World," an evening of music representing international cultures, at 7 p.m. today and Friday in the auditorium, 801 Neely Road, Rock Hill.
The concert will feature the Stallion Singers; soloists Chrissy Hoskins, Sarah Boyd and Wayne Leiwald; and the SPHS Stallion Corral, who recently placed fifth in the state and won a superior rating.

Tickets for the supper are $5 and must be pre-purchased by calling Laney. Proceeds benefit the choral program.
Lancaster street fest is downtown today
The Lancaster Street Fest 2008, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today in historic downtown Lancaster. Admission is free. The family-oriented event includes live music by local artist Tetrox, food vendors, the Lancaster Humane Society pet adopt-a-thon, wood-turning demonstrations by Raymond Overman at Bob Doster's Backstreet Gallery, self-defense demonstrations at Universal Karate Studios, an appearance by Danielle the Spaniel from Founders Federal Credit Union, sidewalk chalk drawing at Chastains's Studio Lofts and the new art studio and more. Nearly 20 merchants will be open.
York County Ballet opens 'Peter Pan' tonight
The York County Ballet Company will perform "Peter Pan" at 8 p.m. today through Saturday and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Johnson Hall Theatre at Winthrop University.
Tickets are $12, available at the Bookworm, 700 Cherry Road, Rock Hill, at the box office before the performances and online at www.yorkcountyballet.org.
The show is the premiere of an original ballet choreographed by Anne Blackwell and Leslie Cooper. Flying portions of the production will be staged by world-renowned Flying Foys, who for 50 years have produced the flying portions of major productions of "Peter Pan."
The production features local performers Taylor Burnette as Peter Pan, Jessica Miller as Tinkerbell, Victor Melvin as Captain Hook, Eliza Blades as Smee and Maggie Cooper as Tiger Lily. The roles of the Darling children are played by Jessica Tillman, Jamie Scott and Katie Dobrowski.
The ballet company is funded in part by a grant from the Arts Council of York County.
Fort Mill auditions scheduled for 'Pollyanna'
The Fort Mill Community Playhouse will have auditions for its summer youth production "Pollyanna" from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 to 9 p.m. May 19.
Production dates are July 10 to 13. The play will be directed by Susan Windham Capotosto. Ages of participants range from 6 to 18 for a cast of six boys, nine girls and other townspeople. Readings will be from a script.
The story is about a 10-year-old orphan, Pollyana, who goes to live in Beldingsville, Vt., with her wealthy but harsh and stern Aunt Polly.
