Taking the City Ministry will host a Bringing it to the Neighborhood event at the Hagin/Fewell Street substation at 5 p.m. Saturday. The Outreach Ministry is in partnership with the Urban Rock Hill Weed and Seed program.

New River paddle trip being planned by PRT
Rock Hill Parks, Recreation and Tourism will have a paddle trip on the New River Saturday. The group will paddle a 10-mile stretch on the river through Ashe County, N.C., near North Wilkesboro. Participants can purchase a meal at Shatley Springs Inn Restaurant, which serves family-style home cooking. Previous paddling experience is recommended. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $65 per person or $50 for tagalongs with their own boat. Transportation is included in the cost.

State historical marker to commemorate bank
A new state historical marker will be unveiled at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at 4028 Woodlawn St., Sharon. Speaker will be Jerry West, a historian and director of the Museum of Western York County.
West co-authored the text for the historical marker commemorative booklet with Culture and Heritage Museums historian Michael Scoggins. The marker will commemorate the First National Bank of Sharon, founded in 1909 and the oldest continuous operating bank in York County. First National Bank of Sharon was an independent national bank until it merged with First Citizens Bank in 1986. The event is free. For details, visit www.chmuseums.org.
Youth art sought for Lancaster show, sale
The 2008 Kids Art Show and Sale in Lancaster is seeking works of art from students ages 5 to 18. All two- and three-dimensional works are accepted. Art is due by July 6 to Bob Doster's Backstreet Gallery, 217 East Gay St., Lancaster.

Kick-off planned for youth outreach program
Boyd Hill Baptist Church Youth Outreach Ministries will have a kick-off for its youth program from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church, 315 Glenn St., Rock Hill.
Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The event will include praise teams and youth speakers. Door prizes will be awarded every 30 minutes, but you must be at the event by 12:30 p.m. to be eligible. Easy, healthy eating is topic of library program
A free program about easy healthy eating will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the York County Library, 138 E. Black St., Rock Hill. An expert will discuss how to makeover favorite recipes, discover healthy restaurant options and decipher supplement claims. n Good Samaritan United Methodist Church will have a July 4th celebration at 7 p.m. Saturday at the church, 5220 Crowders Cove Lane, Lake Wylie. Activities include fellowship and karaoke. The event is open to the public.
n The Lake Wylie Community Fourth of July fireworks display will be at dusk, approximately 9:45 p.m., July 4 at Lake Wylie by the Buster Boyd Bridge, S.C. Hwy. 49 at Lake Wylie. The best viewing sites are the Buster Boyd Bridge Boat Landing, T-Bones on the Lake outside deck, Rey Azteca deck at Lake Wylie Plaza and Lake Wylie Italian and Pizza on patio at Lake Wylie Plaza.
