The Rock Hill Community Theatre will have its 2008 Down Home Play Festival at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 p.m. Aug. 17 in Johnson Theatre, Winthrop University. Original one-act plays will be presented by local and regional playwrights. Tickets are $12 adults, $10 students and seniors for Friday and Saturday performances and $10 adults and $8 students and seniors for Thursday and Sunday performances. Show of tractors, cars and trucks planned Aug. 16 in York

The Fourth Annual Tractor & Engine Show, which is also a car and truck show, will begin at 8 a.m. Aug. 16 at Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church, 2040 S.C. 161, York. There will be biscuits, hot dogs and hamburgers. For details, call (803) 684-2473.

Culture and Heritage Museums will have the following events:

Arts Council of York County exhibit goes up Aug. 20

The Arts Council of York County's 19th annual Juried Competition selections will be on exhibit Aug. 20 until Sept. 21. in the Dalton Gallery at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill. An opening reception and awards ceremony will be at 6 p .m. Aug. 21 at the Center for the Arts. Hudson Family Band will be at Allison Creek this week

Come out Thursday night for Green Star concert in park

Local artists Green Star will perform at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Fewell Park, 1204 Alexander Road, Rock Hill. Green Star is comprised of singer and saxophonist Mark Bradley and singer/guitarist Cathy Bradley. The couple will play a blend of jazz, bluegrass, rock, pop and country. Admission is free. Taking the City Ministry heading to Workman Street

Taking the City Ministry will have its Bringing It To the Neighborhood outreach ministry event at 5 p.m. Aug. 16. at Workman Street Park in Rock Hill. The event includes live music, fellowship, testimonies, youth praise dance, worship and more. The event is free and open to the public.

Friends Concert will be Aug. 24 in Lancaster

The third annual Friends Concert will be at 3 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Lancaster County Council for the Arts, 201 West Gay St., Lancaster. The concert will feature flute, piano and other performances.
