Bang Camaro — rolling live tonight into The Visulite Theatre in Charlotte is more than a bunch of guys in a group. It’s a grand slam band of epic proportions. Using “the more, the merrier” method, this Boston-based, five-piece musical menagerie has 20 lead singers.

Huh? Say what? That’s right, 20. And while all 20 aren’t generally permanent fixtures,10 or more are usually involved, depending on who’s available and ready to rock. Bang Camaro is three guitar players — Alex Necochea, Bryn Bennett and Mike Oor — bass player Dave Riley, drummer Pete McCarthy and a crowd of crooners, including Rodrigo Van Stoli, Nick Given, Nate Wells, Richie Hoss, Morgan Brown, Glen Fant, James Fant, Graeme Hall, J. David Nugent, Steve Trombley, Jay Clifford, Mike Soltoff, Zach Given and Jake Given.

Whew! It gives new meaning to the idea of gang vocals. Bang Camaro offers the sound and style of arena rock indigenous to the mid-’80s with the twist of choruses accompanying grand guitar solos. As for influences, it’s a gi-normous roll call — AC/DC, Beatles, Clash, Dokken, Extreme, Firehouse, to Uriah Heep, Vixen, Wolfmother, X, Yngwie Malmsteen, Zeppelin and just about everybody else in between. Check it out for yourself at myspace.com/bangcamaro.

Bang Camaro is no tribute band, thought, not in the usual sense. The group has its original tunes, evocative of the ’80s, expertly encompassing the hard rock/metal mystique of metal — pop, hair, speed, thrash and glam.

It’s tonight at the Visulite, 1615 Elizabeth Ave., Charlotte. Guest opener Psycle is revved up and ready to rock in a “good time, fun, big rock show.” Details on the show at visulite.com. More on the bands at bangcamaro.com, myspace.com/psycle and psycle.biz.

Roll up for a magical mystery tour via the Beatles Tribute this Saturday at Charlotte’s Spirit Square. All you need is talented musicians — Steve Stoeckel, The Stellas, Angwish, John Tosco, Poprocket, Donna Duncan among them — coming together to share pop/rock classics by the Fab Four. “Twist and Shout” over to Spirit Square, 345 N. College St., at 7 p.m. Saturday. Details, www.blumenthalcenter.org or (704) 372-1000.

Area musicians gather tonight for the benefit Pink Ribbon Jam for Jane at Kelly’s Bistro in Rock Hill. This live music fete will raise money for Jane Jackson, recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Uninsured, Jackson underwent surgery, and now faces many months of chemotherapy. Bands lending their talents include Shoulda’ Been Gone, Seasoned Critters and Weekends. You can expect a few surprise guests as well. There’s a silent auction, too. It’s at 8 p.m. at Kelly’s Bistro, 1101 E. Main St., Rock Hill. Details, 327-3311.
