The woman shot in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant had no permanent address and a lengthy criminal history, officials say.
Rock Hill Police found 32-year-old Tameka Bostic fatally shot in the backseat of a 2009 Chevy Colbart parked at Jack in the Box on Heckle Boulevard near the intersection with South Cherry Road Saturday morning.
Police have charged Matthew Oliver Aldrich, 20, of Orangeburg with murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
Aldrich, Bostic and another woman were in the car when Bostic was shot in the back with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, said Rock Hill Police Lt. Brad Redfearn.
Officers found two 9mm semi-automatics in the car, according to a police report released today.
Bostic was taken to Piedmont Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said.
Bostic did not have a permanent residence, Gast said. Her family is from North Augusta.
Bostic’s criminal charges in South Carolina date back to 1996, according to the State Law Enforcement Division background check.
She has been convicted of several crack and marijuana drug possession charges, SLED documents show. She was also convicted of burglary in 1997. Some of the more recent charges, including fraud, happened in Rock Hill and York County.
Aldrich also has a criminal history. He was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of marijuana in connection with an August incident, SLED documents show.
Aldrich was denied bond, and he remains in custody at the Moss Justice Center Monday.
The case remains under investigation.
