A man was stabbed Sunday when he refused to give his cigarettes away.
A Rock Hill man was assaulted on Lucky Street around 1:20 a.m. Sunday after two men asked him for a cigarette, according to a Rock Hill police report.
The victim told police he was approached by two men wearing dark clothing, the report stated. One of the suspects asked for a cigarette, and the victim told police he replied, “You sell drugs, go buy your own cigarettes,” the report stated.
One of the men pushed the victim down and the other cut the man in the chest with a knife, the report stated. Afterward, they ran away.
The victim was taken to Piedmont Medical Center, where he was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Earlier that morning, another man was attacked by two men who asked for cigarettes.
Before 12:45 a.m., the victim said he was walking on Baskins Road when two men approached him and asked for a cigarette, according to a York County Sheriff's Office report.
The victim said he told the men that he didn't have any cigarettes, the report stated. The men asked for his gold chain, and the victim told him no.
One of the men reached for his chain, and they began to fight, the report stated.
The victim was stabbed three times in the right leg, the report stated, and the two suspects ran.
No description of the suspects is available, and the report stated that the victim did not want to cooperate with police.
The man was taken to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment.
