Holiday Inn and Kem's celebrate grand opening

Holiday Inn Rock Hill and Kem's Restaurant will celebrate their grand opening at 4:30 p.m. today at its location at 503 Galleria Blvd. It's located off Dave Lyle Boulevard adjacent to the Rock Hill Galleria. The York County Regional Chamber of Commerce will assist with a ribbon-cutting.

The full-service hotel and restaurant opened Sept. 10. Fred Dalton is the hotel manager.

Business after hours set for Thursday in Rock Hill

The Palmetto Room at Historic Old Town will host business after hours from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday 135 E. Main St. in Rock Hill.

The event is open to members of the York Count Regional Chamber of Commerce. Food and drinks will be provided and door prizes will be given away. RSVPs are not required.

Census managers named for Rock Hill

The U.S. Census Bureau has appointed a slate of managers for a 2010 Census office in Rock Hill at 775 Addison Ave., Suite 200, in the Aston Building.

The new managers, all area residents, are: Jan Smiley, local census office manager; Lorin Altman, assistant manager for field operations; Chandra McKinney-Smith, assistant manager for quality assurance; Keith Klawes, assistant manager for administration; Barbara Ostrander, assistant manager for recruiting; and Terance Clark, assistant manager for technology. The Rock Hill office supports census operations in Cherokee, Chester, Chesterfield, Darlington, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee, Marlboro, Union and York counties.

Two offices opened in 2008 to carry out operations to prepare for the census in the state. They are located in Charleston and Columbia. The Rock Hill office is one of six new local census offices in South Carolina, bringing the total number to eight.

Hardy, Crook join insurance company

Dana Hardy of Rock Hill and Carol Crook of Lancaster have accepted the positions of personal lines specialist and commercial lines specialist at Carolinas Insurance & Investment Group in Rock Hill.

They were hired as agents to expand the services in South and North Carolina, said A. Watts Huckabee Sr., president and owner. The company offers insurance for all personal lines, to include homes, autos, recreational vehicles and watercraft, as well as all types of commercial lines.

Hardy has served as a multi-line agent with State Farm for nearly 10 years, as well as 18 years in the Rock Hill banking community. Crook has been a multi-line agent since 1989.

Young joins Family Trust in mortgage services

Lisa Young has been named manager of the Mortgage Services Center at Family Trust Federal Credit Union.

A Rock Hill native, Young has more than 20 years of mortgage industry experience and previously was a mortgage originator and underwriter for Family Trust. She will be responsible for mortgage lending personnel and operations. She graduated in 1987 from Winthrop University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Miller named in “Best Doctors” by organization

Dr. Joshua Miller with Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants has been included in the “Best Doctors 2009-2010” by the Best Doctors organization.

Miller works at Southeast Pain Care at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. He earned his bachelor's degree from Furman University and his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina.
