Overnight freeze warning issued for York Co.

- The Herald

Pile on the extra blankets tonight. A freeze warning has been issued, and overnight temperatures in and around York County are expected to dip to 32 degrees.

A ridge of high pressure will settle into the area tonight, producing calm winds overnight. The combination of the calm winds and clear skies will allow temperatures to fall into the low 30s, creating a widespread freeze and areas of frost, according to the National Weather Service of Greenville-Spartanburg.

The freeze warning is in effect from 4 to 9 a.m.

"Tonight should be the worst, in terms of temperatures," said John Tomko, meteorologist with the weather service.

Saturday's high should reach 67, followed by 75 on Sunday. Saturday night temperatures will be around 37, Tomko said.

The nighttime temperatures are about 10 degrees lower than normal for this time of year, Tomko said.
