Lancaster Co. man arrested in Internet predator sting

- The Herald

MAULDIN -- Benjamin James Threatt, 20, of Lancaster was arrested on Thursday in an Internet predator sting conducted by the city of Mauldin Police Department, according to a release from Attorney General Henry McMaster.

Threatt was arrested on one count of criminal solicitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable to 10 years imprisonment.

An arrest warrant alleges that beginning July 21, 2009, Threatt solicited sex on the Internet from an individual he believed to be minor girl. In reality, he was soliciting sex from an undercover Mauldin Police officer, according to the release.

Threatt was arrested at the Greenville County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond.

A search warrant executed at Threatt's residence resulted in the seizure of three desktop computers and a hard drive. The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office assisted in the case.

This is the 180th arrest for the Task Force. The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General's Office.
