Rock Hill woman stabbed in Wal-Mart parking lot

A 27-year-old Rock Hill woman was stabbed Sunday morning during a hold-up in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

The woman told Rock Hilll Police she was loading her purchase into her car at Wal-Mart, 2377 Dave Lyle Blvd., around 10:30 a.m. Sunday when a man approached her. She said a black male with facial hair, wearing a green T-shirt and appearing to be about 40 years old pointed a knife at her and demanded money, the report states.

The woman told police the man cut her wrist and stabbed her in the abdomen. The man fled without any money, and the woman drove herself to the hospital for treatment and to call police. The woman was treated and released from the hospital. No arrests have been made in the case.

2 die after wreck partially fills car with cement

CHARLESTON -- Authorities say two women have died after a cement truck crashed into the car they were in and partially filled it with cement.

Highway Patrol Corporal Paul Brouthers told The (Charleston) Post and Courier that the women were in the front seat of a Honda that abruptly changed lanes in front of the cement truck on Interstate 26 on Monday afternoon.

Brouthers says the truck couldn't stop and crashed into the Honda, landing on top of the car.

Pete Rogers with the Charleston Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad said cement then started to fill the car and it took 20 rescuers with shovels to dig out the women, who then had to be cut from the car.

Troopers say a third woman in the back seat of the car was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

West Columbia girl, 10, drowns in pond off I-20

LEXINGTON -- Authorities say a 10-year-old West Columbia girl has died after she fell into a drainage pond while playing with friends.

The coroner's office said Teneisha Smalls slipped off a bank Sunday while playing near the pond behind her house.

Authorities said Smalls was rescued from the pond but died later at the hospital.

The owner of the pond said it fills with runoff from nearby Interstate 20 when it rains.

Deputies have ruled the death an accident.
