Two others already sentenced in the case
A Rock Hill man is in custody after police say he and two other men robbed a local grocery store of $9,000 earlier this year.
Authorities charged Maurice Shaundell Hope, 22, of 2806 Carhart Circle with kidnapping, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during a violent crime and conspiracy in connection with a robbery that happened Jan. 1 at Bi-Lo at 1735 Heckle Blvd., according to a Rock Hill Police report.
On Jan. 1, a Bi-Lo employee told police she was counting morning deposits when she heard a noise and saw a masked man standing in front of her, pointing a handgun, the report states.
The man went to the opened cash drawer, removed $9,000 in bills and put them in a back pack.
Hope's arrest was the third to come in the case.
Last month, Jarrod Michael Heath, 22, and Cory Jevaughn Sprueill, 26, pleaded guilty to attempted armed robbery and conspiracy, said E.B. Springs of the 16th Circuit Solicitor's Office. Heath received a five-year sentence without parole, while Sprueill received a seven-year sentence without parole, Springs said.
Bond was set at $115,000 for Hope, who remained in custody Tuesday at York County Detention Center.
