Chester church to honor teachers
St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church will honor area teachers today at a celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, located at 2723 Cameron Road in Chester.
Teachers from schools in York and Chester counties who have students who attend the church will receive credit for the effort given to the students. India Hook Elementary School teacher of the year Hana Sands organized the Hawaiian-themed event, called "Lei-ing the Foundation."
Young professionals board to be set up
A young professionals board is being organized for the Boys and Girls Clubs of York County. An interest meeting will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St. in Rock Hill.
The board will consist of young professionals, ages 21 to 45, who want a leadership opportunity and who are interested in assisting the Boys and Girls Clubs of York County with fundraising, expansion into Western York County and positively impacting children. Gast to hold campaign fundraising event
A campaign fundraising event for Sabrina Gast in her election bid for York County Coroner will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 1 at the River Hills Marina Pavilion. Cocktails and light buffet will be served at the event. Cost is $25.00 per person. For reservations, call Suzanne Krause at (803) 831-0689.
In September of 2006, Gast was appointed coroner by Gov. Mark Sanford. Gast, a Fort Mill resident, received a nursing degree from Clemson University and has more than 15 years of nursing experience.
