YORK -- Authorities today released the identity of a man found dead Sunday in a wooded area near Lake Wylie.Henry Revelo Romero, 27, of Timber Creek Apartments in Charlotte was found in a ravine in a new housing development off Montgomery Road near the state line in the Lake Wylie community.
Romero’s murder marks the first homicide investigation this year for York County Sheriff’s Office, Capt. Jerry Hoffman said.
Romero was clad in blue jeans, a white T-shirt and tan working boots. He suffered injuries to the back of his head from a blunt object, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.
Romero, who also had a diamond-like stud earring in his left ear, died from blunt force trauma, Hoffman said. He declined to say more specifically how Romero died, citing the ongoing investigation.
Authorities identified Romero by fingerprint records and believe that he was murdered at the wooded scene. Romero’s body was discovered around 3:30 p.m. Sunday when the property owner and his son were inspecting the area.
No one has been arrested in the homicide, Hoffman said.
