Police issue photo of bank robbery suspect

Police on Wednesday issued photos of a man they say posed as a customer before robbing a Rock Hill bank Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday at Provident Community Bank at 615 Crown Point Circle, off Dave Lyle Boulevard.

Anyone who sees the man is encouraged to call authorities and not confront him, said Lt. Larry Vaughan of the Rock Hill Police Department.

The man gave the bank manager a black vinyl-type bag with a drawstring and ordered her to put money inside the bag, according to police.

"He told one of the tellers he had a gun," Vaughn said.

Four employees were present, but no customers were in the bank during the robbery, Vaughan said. No one was hurt.

The man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, Vaughan said.

Anyone with information should call the Rock Hill Police Department at 329-7254 or 329-7296 or CrimeStoppers of York County at 1-877-409-4321.

TV cameras OK'd for sentencing of strangler

GREENVILLE -- A judge on Wednesday decided to allow television cameras to record the sentencing of a convicted sex offender facing life in prison or death for raping a Clemson student and strangling her with her bikini top.

But Circuit Judge Edward Miller banned all live audio or video from being broadcast from Jerry Buck Inman's Sept. 8 sentencing hearing.

Inman, bald with tattoos visible on his neck, arms and chest, and shackled at the wrists and ankles, did not speak to the court during the hour-long hearing in Greenville.
