Luke Basha earns Eagle, refurbishes picnic tables

Luke Basha will be awarded his Eagle Scout rank today at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at Westminister Presbyterian Church Chapel in Rock Hill.

For his Eagle project, Basha refurbished 10 metal picnic table frames to be used at Westminister Park, India Hook Road, Rock Hill. Basha coordinated over 20 volunteers in nearly 130 hours of work.

Basha began scouting in 2001 in Cub Scout Pack 205, was awarded the Arrow of Light and joined Boy Scout troop 205 in 2004. He has served as troop chaplain and is an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow Troop 205 sponsored by Westminister Presbyterian Church.

Basha is a sophomore and honor student at Westminister Catawba Christian school and a member of the Beta Club. He has earned 23 merit badges. Basha is the son of Paul and Sarah Basha of Fort Mill and the grandson of Jim and Lou Ardrey of Fort Mill and Ernest and Suzie Basha of Mount Pleasant.

FM Rotarians raise $66,000 at golf tourney

The Fort Mill Rotary Club's recent 2008 Mardi Gras Auction and golf tournament raised over $66,000. All proceeds will be donated to charities. More than 300 people attended the event. Businesses and individuals from the Fort Mill and surrounding area donated auction and raffle items.

The Fort Mill Rotary Club provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and helps build goodwill and peace in the community.
