SEM Products, a manufacturer of specialty aerosols, adhesives and coatings, plans to move its headquarters from Charlotte to Rock Hill, an $11 million investment that will include 85 jobs.
The company's new headquarters will be located in a 70,000-square-foot existing facility at Waterford Park and will serve as its manufacturing plant, the S.C. Department of Commerce said in making the announcement Tuesday.
State commerce officials said SEM Products will be consolidating its Charlotte headquarters with a manufacturing plant located in Rockingham, N.C.
The company said it expects to have the combined operations ready by the end of the year.
Steve Fussy, president of SEM Products, said in a prepared statement the York County location "offers us an environment that will help our company grow and meet the demands of our customers. South Carolina's business-friendly climate and strong work force offer us great opportunity to increase our competitive edge."
SEM Products is an employee-owned company, founded in 1948. The company manufactures specialty aerosols, adhesives and coatings for the automotive, aerospace, marine and industrial markets.
"The company's decision to locate its new facility in South Carolina is a strong testament to our state's business-friendly climate," said Joe Taylor, the state's secretary of commerce.
