Motorists today haven't been happy with the increase in gas prices. Here's a sampling of what people are saying:
“It just went up 10 cents in the last half-hour. I saw it was up here and I drove down the street, where it’s usually cheaper and it was up there, too, so I came back and it was already up 10 cents in half an hour. Obviously the price of gas didn’t go up by itself in the last half hour, so who’s ripping off who? And the hurricane hasn’t hit anything yet.”
— Neil Ayrons, 52, from Belmont, N.C., a customer at Shell in Lake Wylie
“It’s nothing but price gouging, that’s what it is. They’re using the storm down in Texas. I just hope and pray that storm won’t damage those oil refineries, because we’ll be looking at $10 a gallon, just because they can.”
— Bill Orr, 66, Chester
“This is ridiculous. This is taking far too much money out of our pockets. Did you ever think we would wait in lines to get gas for this price?”
— Jamie Raad, 47, Rock Hill
“If people can’t get to work, that’s certainly going to go against both parties at election time. ... There should have been precautionary methods in place. Nobody seems to be thinking beyond their nose. It’s so hard to believe. It seems so contrived that this can happen overnight.”
— Dolan Keener, 62, Fort Mill
