YORK — A York teen will spend two decades in jail after a jury found him guilty of shooting at a car full of people in what authorities have called a “turf shooting.”

After a three-day trial, a jury on Thursday found Marquis Deporris “Bucket” Roylonza Mackins, 19, guilty of four counts of assault of a high and aggravated nature and discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle, 16th Assistant Solicitor E. B. Springs said.

The charges carried up to a 50-year prison sentence, Springs said.

Judge John C. Hayes handed down a 20-year sentence Thursday in the July 30 shooting near York’s Hall Street apartments, according to a press release issued Friday morning from the 16th Circuit Solicitor’s office.

“I wish he could have gotten more years,” Springs said Friday. “He had terrorized that area.”

Melvin Roberts, Mackins’ attorney, was not available for comment Friday.

This week’s trial marked the second time Mackins had been tried in connection with the shooting. An October trial resulted in a hung jury, according to court documents.
