Winthrop University has a new dean of the Graduate School.

Yvonne Murnane, director of graduate studies at the State University of New York College at Cortland, will assume the position July 1, Winthrop officials announced Thursday.

Murnane will oversee the Graduate School, which includes 24 graduate degree programs, and summer school.

She comes to Winthrop after five years at SUNY Cortland, where she led reorganization efforts of that school’s graduate school program.

Murnane earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Indiana University, a master’s degree in reading and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Marquette University.
