Betty Wisher Jonas

ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Betty Wisher Jonas, 82, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Agape Rehab.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at West End Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Horn officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Jonas was a daughter of the late John Wisher and the late Annie Dill Wisher. She was retired from J.C. Penney with 20 years of service and was the widow of Charles L. Jonas, to whom she was married for 58 years. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Wesley Jonas.

Surviving are two sons, Charles F. "Fred" Jonas and his wife, Linda and Charles E. "Eddie" Jonas and his wife, Gabriele, all of Rock Hill; her brother, Ned E. Wisher of Rock Hill; her sisters, Midora Gainey and Barbara Morris, both of Rock Hill and Peggy Corbitt of Newport News, Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road.
