YORK -- Mrs. Maude Barnes Carroll, 93, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
Born in York County, she was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Clara Martin Barnes, the wife of the late Waldo Carroll and the mother of the late Clara Sexton. Mrs. Carroll was a homemaker and an active member of Tirzah ARP Church, where she was involved in the women's activities. In addition to her parents, husband and daughter, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Usher and Clara Armour and five brothers, Ralph, Neil, George, Robert and Earl Barnes.
Surviving are her granddaughter, Pamela Harding and her husband, John; a son-in-law, Robert Sexton and his wife, Johnnie; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Makayla Harding of York; four sisters-in-law, Isabelle Raines of York, Ruth Carroll of Fort Mill, Margaret Barnes and Catherine Cabaniss, both of Rock Hill; a nephew, David Carroll and his wife, Betty and their son, Tommy, all of York; nieces, Jenny Parrish and her husband, Tommy, of Rock Hill and Ann Mullinax and her husband, Mark, of Travelers Rest, SC; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Tirzah ARP Church, with the Pastor Andy Putnam officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at Tirzah ARP Church and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Pamela and John Harding, 5945 Old York Road, York, SC 29745.
