ROCK HILL -- Mr. William Marinus Blind, 86, of Rock Hill died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, with the Rev. Gerald Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Born in Sayville, N.Y., Mr. Blind was the son of the late Charles Blind and Nellie Decker Blind. He was a U.S. Merchant Marine and then served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the VFW and was of the Lutheran faith.

Mr. Blind is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Kinard Blind; two sons, Donald Blind of Knoxville, Tenn., and Larry Blind of Sioux Falls, S.D.; his daughter, Lorraine Oefinger of Gastonia, N.C.; his brother, Paul Blind of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 355 E. White St., Rock Hill.
