ROCK HILL -- Ms. Ruby Gayle Clinton Whisonant, 68, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill..

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Dr. Jerry Sosebee and the Rev. Lewis Vehaun officiating. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery.

Born in Rock Hill, S.C., Ms. Whisonant was a daughter of the late Buford Clinton and the late Hazel Brantley Clinton. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and was financial secretary and taught Sunday school for many years at Emmanuel Baptist Church. She retired from the York County Sheriff Department as a detention officer. Following her retirement, she worked as a receptionist at Westminster Towers.

Ms. Whisonant is survived by her son, Daniel Eric Whisonant; her brother, Thomas Clinton of Myrtle Beach; and her sisters, Mable C. Wylie of Rock Hill and Ruth C. Hinson of Columbia.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today, Aug. 21, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill.
