SPARTANBURG -- Glenda B. Brown of Spartanburg passed away Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 2, 1948, in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., she was the daughter of Sallie Hall Brown of Rock Hill and the late Alton "John" Brown. Glenda spent her life caring for and in service to others. A homemaker and former nurse, she also was an active member of Restoration Church and volunteered with the Spartanburg Literacy Association and Mobile Meals.

Surviving in addition to her mother is her husband of 18 years, Robert H. "Bob" Brown; a daughter, Stacey M. Bechtold and her husband, Brad, of Greenville; two sons, Lee Shelton and his wife, Larah, of McKinney, Texas and Samuel Shelton of Spartanburg; a stepson, Ben Brown and his wife, Jen, of Charleston; a stepdaughter, Beth McManus and her husband, James, of Moreland, Ga.; a grandson, Carter Bechtold; a granddaughter, Caroline Bechtold; a stepgrandson, Alex Brown; two stepgranddaughters, Holly Brown and Maggie McManus; two brothers, David Brown and Marvin Brown and a sister, Margie Grant, all of Rock Hill.

Visitation will be 3 to 3:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at Restoration Church. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at the church conducted by Pastor Stephen Burnes. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Center, 1010 Edgehill Road North, Charlotte, NC 28207 or to Restoration Church, P. O. Box 8898, Spartanburg, SC 29305.
