Couple wins $10,000 home upgrades in York Electric contest

Peter and Janet Wise of Rock Hill received up to $10,000 in energy-efficiency upgrades as part of the “Help My House” contest.

The York Electric Co-op and Lynches River Electric Co-op helped the Wises as part of a statewide program by electric cooperatives across South Carolina.

The Wise family won a contest that involved 4,000 other customers. Workers installed a new high-efficiency heat pump to replace a 27-year-old pump at the house. Workers also put in new duct work and an attic cover to provide better insulation.

“We've made a dramatic difference in this home,” said Marc Howie, an executive at York Electric Co-op.
