Veterans Day events in Fort Mill, Chester

These public Veterans Day events are planned today:

The Fort Mill American Legion Post 43 at 427 Banks St. will have a Veterans Day ceremony beginning at 10:45 a.m. today, with a rifle salute at 11. The speaker will be retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Joseph Robinson with the ROTC program at Fort Mill High School. For details, call 803-547-2414.

The Chester County Veterans Day ceremony will be at 11 a.m. upstairs in the Chester County War Memorial Building at 154 Main St. Keynote speaker will be retired Maj. Gen. Wade H. McManus Jr. The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps will present the colors. Music will be by the Chester High School band. The event is sponsored by the Chester County Veterans Affairs, American Legion post 27, Disabled American Veterans chapter 19, Veterans of Foreign Wars post 5930, U.S. Marine Corps League Detachment 1161 and their ladies auxiliaries.
