Change time for Christmas parade

It's almost time for our Christmas parade, and we need to change the time.

Our parade time isn't right for the children, older people and for all the people who work so hard to make is pretty. It's too dark, you can't see the floats, which they work so hard to make pretty, you can't tell who is who on them.

We can't read the names on the side of the cars carrying people who wave.

Bands, we can't see them all dressed up but we can sometimes hear them play. They work so hard on this special day, and they need to be seen.

Take a look at all the other parades, and you will see they are during the day. I'm not the only one that has complained. I hear people say last year they wouldn't be back.

Saturday morning, around 10 a.m. or 11 a.m., downtown would be nice, a way to show off our town and all the hard work that has been done.

Let us enjoy the one thing that we all get for Christmas: a parade.

Martin being falsely accused

I want to express my support for the Martin family. What was written in your newspaper was lies, and in the weeks to come, your readers will also learn this. Robert Martin is a good husband, father, grandfather and a servant to our community.

His accusers are giving false information. It is my hope that when he is cleared -- and he will be cleared of all charges -- that The Herald will put this on its front page.

Accusations cause pain for family

I am writing in response to your horrible front page story about Robert Martin. It is a shame when a wonderful man's life is put through hell over an inmate's lies. Not to mention the hell this lie has put their family through.

This man and his family are good people, and I just hope when he is cleared of these awful allegations, you plaster as big an article on the front page as you did with this story.

Martin will be found innocent

I would like to respond to the recent piece in your paper about Robert Cordell Martin. I have known this man for a long time; he is a honest, trustworthy, hard working man. You didn't even check the inmate's records. I hope you plaster her picture on the front page and write all the awful things about her when Mr. Martin is found innocent.

Election is move away from faith

As this country moves toward the liberal agenda again, will those who stand for what is right continue to do nothing at all?

This is not about black or white. This is not about racism or any other "isms." This is about a country that in every way is losing its moral standing. I am an African-American who has longed to see the day that all Americans would embrace a black man to be our president. Yet, I have great concerns for who we just elected. I wish no ill toward the president-elect. My ill will is toward those who are supposed to be the gatekeepers, shepherds of the flocks, who have made a bed with the devil.

Overlooking all the offenses because he is a black man doesn't do this country well, In fact, we are becoming the next European Socialist country that is moving toward reason, away from faith; toward a new enlightenment and away from truth; toward selfishness away from love.

First step in rebuilding Republican party

Obama's win means that I will no longer have to travel abroad as a Canadian to avoid anti-Bush tirades from the locals. Also, Sen. Graham said that if North Carolina went for Obama, he would drown himself.

Do you know when and where this event will take place? That could be a first step toward rebuilding the Republican Party.

A good place to find a pet

I would like to recommend anyone thinking about getting a dog to first go to www.petfinder.com before going to a pet shop or a breeder. We recently adopted a poodle mix from Carolina Poodle Rescue and are completely satisfied.

The process took about a week. After we were approved, we looked at many dogs on the Web site and settled on Daisy Lou. We contacted her foster mom and set up a time and day to go see Daisy Lou. We hit it off, took her home that day.
