Bryant-Smith

A service of worship celebrating the marriage of Katherine Pharr Smith and Alexander Cullen Bryant was held at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Rock Hill, S.C., on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009.

The Rev. Kenneth Owens officiated at the 6:30 p.m. ceremony. Dinner and dancing followed at the Rock Hill County Club.

Daughter of Ms. Suzanne Smith of Rock Hill, the bride received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Furman University and a Master of Mass Communication degree from the University of South Carolina. She is employed by the Newberry County School District.

The groom received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of South Carolina and is employed by Verizon Wireless. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Hartnett of Lexington, S.C., and of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Allen Bryant, also of Lexington.

The bride was escorted by her cousin, Mark Thurston Stuckey of Columbia, S.C. The maid of honor was Emily Garrett Barnhill of Columbia.

Bridesmaids were Brittany Williams Barnett and Kathryn Pender Nabulsi, both of Atlanta, Ga., Cathy Ewald Loftus of Denver, Colo., Anna Groos Saunders and Celeste Riddle Schnabel, both of Columbia, and Andrea Leigh Tallent of Greenville, S.C.

The best men were Timothy Russell Bilton of Simpsonville, S.C., and Len Durant Mathis Jr. of Spartanburg, S.C.

Groomsmen were brothers of the groom, Christopher Whitley Bayne of Gaston, S.C., Trey Bayne of Columbia, Stephen Allen Bryant and Cameron Timothy Whitock Hartnett, both of Lexington, and fathers of the groom, Richard Allen Bryant and Timothy Hartnett.

The readers were Sara Echols Bridges of Winston Salem, N.C., and Kathryn Winkles Howle of Greenville, S.C.

Robert Walker Young Jr. of Greenville was the crucifer and Sean Padrick Vick of Clinton, S.C., was the banner bearer.

Attendants were Ashley Schipman Beard, Laura Hunsucker Lengers, and Susan Alexander Roberson, all of Rock Hill.

Reception greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Scott Franklin Talley of Spartanburg, S.C., and Mr. and Mrs. John Michael Turner of Laurens, S.C.

The wedding was directed by Mrs. Robert Arthur Newsom of Rock Hill.

After a honeymoon in St. Maarten, the newlyweds will reside in Columbia.
