The Out of Bounds Ensemble, a Charlotte region contemporary chamber music ensemble, will present these concerts:

n 7:30 p.m. Sept. 5 in Bryant Hall, Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte. Admission is free.

n 4 p.m. Sept. 7 in Barnes Recital Hall, Winthrop University. Tickets are $10 general admission and $5 for Winthrop students, available by calling 323-2255.

Celebrate Van Wyck will be held Sept. 6

The Van Wyck Community Club will have its 10th annual Celebrate Van Wyck Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Community Center, 5036 Old Hickory Road, Van Wyck. The family event includes live music, a business and travel show, vendors, children's activities and more. Clover Optimist pageant will be next month

Meet student athletes at Winthrop Eagles 101

The Winthrop Eagle Club is offering the public an opportunity to meet the 2008-2009 Eagle student athletes. "Winthrop Eagles 101" will be at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Winthrop University Coliseum. Microsoft class to be offered at Hampton Inn

A Microsoft Upgrade class to learn Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Hampton Inn, 2111 Tabor Drive, Rock Hill. Learn to waltz during dance classes

Beginner and Intermediate Waltz is offered at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 3 in the St. John's Center of St. John's United Methodist Church, 321 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill. The class lasts for seven weeks and cost is a $30 donation. For details, call Pat at (803) 980-4000.

Grant applications are due now

The Foundation for the Carolinas is now accepting grant applications on behalf of the George D. Patterson Family Fund, which provides support to agencies focused on animal welfare. Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to nonprofit organizations throughout Mecklenburg and contiguous counties. Grant applications are available online at www.fftc.org.

Furniture needed by local theater group

United Way, firefighters plan local benefits

The following fundraisers are happening:

n The second annual United Men of York County fundraiser is seeking nominations of men to be featured in the 2009 United Men of York County Calendar. Nominations are $20 each. n A benefit barbecue for wounded troops returning from combat will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethesda Fire Department, 1705 W. Highway 324, Rock Hill. Good family to gather sunday

The Good family reunion will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church in Sharon. Bring tea and a picnic lunch.
