The Firelight Fright Tale telling festival will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at Fewell Park, 1204 Alexander Road, Rock Hill. Featured storytellers will be Marc Batten and Rixon Lane. Concessions will be available. The event is sponsored by Rock Hill Parks, Recreation and Tourism, the York County Library, Rock Hill school district and the Palmetto Reading Council. Expand your cultural horizons at McCelvey Center

Culture and Heritage Museums will have these events:

• A McCelvey Series Performance, musical tour of World War II,”War Bonds: The Songs and Letters of WWII,” 3 p.m. Oct. 26, McCelvey Center, 212 E. Jefferson St., York. The event features personal letters from the battlefield, songs and headlines from the conflict. Admission is $15 CHM members; $20 non-members; $18 seniors; and $10 youth ages 4 to 17.

Various local groups need your help with fundraising

The following are having fundraisers:

• Chandler Place Retirement Community will have a Family Fun Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1. Event includes rummage and bake sale, crafts and gifts. Proceeds are donated to charities. For details, call 325-1008.

• The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will have its 7th annual Fall Festival and Halloween Carnival from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25 at St. Anne’s Church, 1694 Bird St., Rock Hill. The event includes games, a haunted house, costume contest, raffles, spaghetti dinner and more. Proceeds benefit community members who are in need.
