Gracie McCluney, 6, of Rock Hill was crowned Little Miss North Myrtle Beach Oct. 11 in Myrtle Beach. Gracie is a first-grade student at Mount Gallant Elementary School.
Gracie is the daughter of Derrick and Heather McCluney of Rock Hill and granddaughter of Mac and Kathy McCluney of Rock Hill. She will represent North Myrtle Beach in the Little Miss South Carolina pageant in June.
The Rock Hill NAACP recently announced the recipients of the 2008 Dr. James H. Goudlock Scholarships. Goudlock was a former president of the Friendship Junior College in Rock Hill.
Recipients were Kadera Williams, Northwestern High School graduate; Justin Lee Anderson, South Pointe High School graduate; and Simeon Avionce Hoyles, South Pointe High School graduate.
Seven York County women recently attended the 2008 South Carolina Farm Bureau Annual Women's Leadership Conference in Florence.
Attending the conference, were Wendy Stephenson, Carolyn Boyd, Annette Boyd, Sybil Biggers, Faye Lineberger, Peggy Harshaw and Helen Myers.
Farm Bureau Women coordinate public relations activities and projects promoting agriculture.
The 13th annual Hopebuilders 5K Run/Walk held Oct. 11 in Charlotte raised $110,000 for Levine Children's Hospital. The Discoveries Soccer Club U13 of York County raised $270 for the event and was recognized as one of the Top Friends and Family Fundraising Teams.
