Toys for Happiness will accept applications for assistance beginning Friday through early December. The project supplies toys at the holidays for underprivileged children in York County.
Toys for Happiness provides toys and gifts to children ages birth to 14. The assistance program was created by WRHI Radio and United Way of York County. Application information is available on United Way's Web site at www.unitedwayofyc.org.
Applications will be accepted at the following dates and locations:
• 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Nov. 14 and 21 at the ParentSmart Family Resource Center, 217 Orange St., Rock Hill. Spanish-speaking volunteers will be at this location.
• 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 1 to 3 at Parenting Partnerships, 37 Pinckney St., York.
• 9:30 to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5 at the YMCA, 402 Charlotte Ave., Rock Hill.
• 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 13 at the Charlotte Avenue YMCA.
'Old Time Radio Show' to be presented
The Chester Little Theater will present "Old Time Radio Show" at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at 100 Cestrian Square.
The production, set in the late 1930s, is reminiscent of the radio shows of yesteryear, including songs from the period, comedy sketched and authentic commercials.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and students, and are available at the box office by calling 803-377-1101.
Bazaar, yard sale planned at local church
St. Matthias Episcopal Church will hold a bazaar and yard sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 535 Hollis Lake Road, Rock Hill. Barbecue will be sold for take-out or eat in and African jewelry and other crafts will be available.
Veterans Day meal to be hosted by VFW
A Veterans Day fish fry will begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3746, 1404 Crawford Road, Rock Hill. Fish plates are $6; fish sandwiches, $3.50; hot dogs, $1.25; drinks, $1; and soup, $3. Details, 324-5777.
Bethel UMC to host country lunch today
Bethel United Methodist Women will have a country lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the church, 1232 Curtis St., Rock Hill. It will include stew beef and rice, turnip greens, cabbage, macaroni and cheese, pineapple casserole, dumplings, collards, pinto beans, slaw, cornbread, peach cobbler and poundcake. Cost is $7.
Memorial service planned for lost loved ones
