Check out Holiday Affair today for seasonal ideas

The annual Holiday Affair will be at Northside Recreation Center, 90 Annafrel St., Rock Hill, from 9:30 a.m. to noon today. This event is co-sponsored by Rock Hill Parks, Recreation and Tourism and the Clemson Extension Service. Demonstrations will be offered on holiday decorating, food making and crafts. Get into recycling fun Sunday at MYCO

America Recycles Day will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Museum of York County, 4621 Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill. The free event includes making crafts from recycled materials, games, temporary tattoos and recycling available in the community. For details, call 329-2121.

'Journey through America' at concert

The Annie Moses Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at McCelvey Center, 212 E. Jefferson St., York. The band will perform "String Crossings: A Journey Through America," a look at the folk songs and hymns that helped shape early American music. Kids, check out what's new at Rock Hill theater

Rock Hill Community Theatre will have a kid's open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at 240 E. Black St., Rock Hill. Learn about applying for grants at meeting

The Junior Welfare League of York County will have an informational grant meeting at 10 a.m. today at the Office of Housing and Neighborhoods, The City of Rock Hill, 150 Johnson St., Rock Hill. Nominate volunteers for Come-See-Me awards

The Come-See-Me Festival is seeking nominations for the 2009 Community Service Merit Awards. The award is given to five men, women or youth who have made a difference in their communities through volunteer service. Brush up computer skills with these classes

Rock Hill Adult Education will offer these computer classes:

n Basic introduction with Windows, 4-day class, 9 a.m. to noon, Nov. 17 through 20; and 5 to 7:45 p.m., Dec. 2, 4, 9 and 11.

n Microsoft Word Level 1, 4-day course, 9 a.m. to noon, Dec. 8, 9, 10 and 11.

n PowerPoint, 4-day course, 9 a.m. to noon, Dec. 15 through 18.

Green Street celebrating holiday with cookout

Operation Help One Another will have its annual Green Street "Happy Thanksgiving" community cookout from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Moore Street Park, 271 E. Moore St., Rock Hill. Everyone is welcome. The event will include free food and games.

Lend a hand to local assistance groups

These assistance efforts are offered for the needy:

• The Second Harvest Mobile Pantry will be at Hermon Presbyterian Church, 107 Heckle Blvd., Rock Hill, beginning at 10 a.m. today. The ministry, hosted by Hermon Presbyterian and St. Mary's Catholic churches and Freedom Temple Ministries, will distribute food to people in need. This is the final site for 2008. Second Harvest is a ministry of Providence Presbytery, and volunteers are welcome. Congregational sponsors for 2009 are being recruited.
