Knights can't find extra run vs. Hens

- Staff Reports

FORT MILL -- Charlotte returned home from its longest road trip of the season Wednesday and fell to Toledo 2-1.

The Knights were held to five hits while the Mud Hens collected 10 hits.

One of those belonged to Adam Ricks, who was playing his second game of the day. Ricks was called up from Single-A Winston-Salem following a day game.

Ricks started behind the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Following the game, he made the 79-mile trip down I-85 to Charlotte to enter the Knights game in the second inning to pinch-hit for Ryan Sweeney.

Anistacio Martinez (4-5, 4.14 ERA) picked up the win for the Mud Hens after going six innings and striking out nine. Shaun Babula (3-3, 4.59) took the loss for the Knights.

The three game series continues at 7:15 p.m. today at Knights Stadium.
