James "Stue" Boyd Jr.

CHESTER -- Rev. James "Stue" W. Boyd Jr., of 523 Carolina Drive, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at his home.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Pineville AME Zion Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Rev. Boyd, a native of Richburg, was the son of Rev. James W. Boyd Sr. and the late Carrie M. Boyd. He was a member of Rehoboth AME Zion Church. He was the former pastor of New Hope AME Zion in Union, S.C., for 25 years, and the pastor of Pineville AME Zion Church in Rock Hill.

Rev. James W. Boyd Jr., was a graduate of Lewisville High School.

In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by two sisters, Bertha Jane Boyd and the Rev. Maggie Boyd.

Rev. James W. Boyd Jr. leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving and devoted wife, Shirley Wylie-Boyd; his daughter, Monica Boyd; his son, James W. Boyd III, all of the home; his father, the Rev. James W. Boyd Sr. of Rochester, N.Y.; his brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Carolyn Boyd, the Rev. Heyward and Lachan Boyd Sr.; Keith and the Rev. Angela Boyd, all of Chester and Reggie and Elder LaToya Boyd of Rock Hill; his sisters and brother-in-law, the Rev. Vivian and Mike Pressley of Rock Hill and the Rev. Betty B. Mackey of Rochester.

Viewing will be from 1 to 9 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery Street, Chester.
