Knights take second win from PawSox

Staff ReportsJune 5, 2008

FORT MILL -- For the second straight night, the Charlotte Knights were victorious over the visiting Pawtucket Red Sox, winning 4-2.

Charlotte got a great pitching performance from starter Charlie Haeger (4-4) who earned his fourth win of the season.

Haeger went 6 1-3 innings, allowing just one hit on the night as he outdueled Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz (0-1). It took awhile for Haeger to get run support as the Knights picked up four runs in the 6th inning. Jason Bourgeois came up with a big RBI double in that inning.

Pawtucket was forced to play without outfielder Bobby Kielty as he was ejected for arguing balls and strikes. Red Sox manager Ron Johnson was also ejected for arguing with home plate umpire Justin Vogel.

Charlotte closer Jason Childers earned his fourth save of the season as he pitched a perfect 9th inning.

The Knights continue their homestand with the Pawtucket Red Sox at 7:15 p.m. today. Lance Broadway (5-3, 2.95 ERA) will start for Charlotte. He will face Pawtucket's David Pauley (7-2, 3.78 ERA).
