Knights sweep Braves

Richmond, Va. -- The Charlotte Knights swept a doubleheader from the Richmond Braves Tuesday.

The Knights took the first game 6-5 and won the nightcap 5-1 to gain a split of the six game series.

In the opener, Charlotte jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a run-scoring double by Danny Richar and an RBI single by David Cook.

The Braves answered with four runs in the home half. Carl Loadenthal chased a run home with a single. Jason Perry smashed a two run home run.

Clint Sammons knocked in a run with a single.

Lance Broadway picked up the win. Mike MacDougal earned a save. Brian Lawrence took the loss. Cook had four hits for the Knights.

Loadenthal and Mark Jurich had two hits for the Braves.

In the nightcap, the Knights erupted for four runs in the fourth inning. Danny Richar doubled a run home.
