Officials late Friday were looking for a dark-colored Ford pickup truck they believe was involved in a hit-and-run that killed a Rock Hill teen.
The truck has tinted windows, an extended cab and chrome wheels and was last seen heading north on Adnah Church Road around 5 p.m. Friday, Lance Cpl. Josef Robinson of the state Highway Patrol said.
Christopher Ryan Lanier, 15, of 651 Winding Branch Road died from multiple injuries after he was knocked off the dirt bike he was riding and run over on Adnah Church Road near Marion Street, officials said.
Christopher, a rising sophomore at Northwestern High School, was taken to Piedmont Medical Center, where he died, York County Deputy Coroner Ev Amick said.
"He was a very loving, kind, smart and beautiful boy," Christie Owens said through tears about her son, Christopher. "He was a very good boy."
Owens last talked to Christopher, an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan who loved homemade tacos and stuffed-crust pizza, around noon.
"He asked, 'Mom, can I go swimming?' And I said 'Yes.' He said, 'I love you, and I'll talk to you later.'"
Owens said her son left on a borrowed dirt bike, went swimming and hung out with some of his friends.
An autopsy will be completed on Lanier, Amick said.
Other details were not available from the state Highway Patrol. The incident remained under investigation, Robinson said.

The period from Memorial Day to Labor Day is considered the 100 deadliest days of the year in South Carolina because of the number of highway fatalities.
As of Thursday, 467 people had died on South Carolina roads this year, according to the state highway safety office. That's down from 524 people who died on state roads through the same time last year.
