Contributors give to Empty Stocking Fund
The Empty Stocking Fund, organized by The Herald, is an annual holiday assistance effort to help needy families in the newspaper's readership area.
Contributions to the Empty Stocking Fund can be mailed to P.O. Box 10921, Rock Hill, SC 29731, or dropped off at The Herald, 132 W. Main St., Rock Hill. Contributors' names will be published in The Herald.

Local students win art exhibit awards
The annual ChristmasVille Festival featured a special art exhibit by York County high school students at the Center for the Arts on Main Street and will continue all month. Awards were given as follows:
• First place: Adam Eddy of Fort Mill High School, $250.
• Second place: Paul Nguyen of Northwestern High School, $150.
• Third place: Emilia Munoz-Bowman of Rock Hill High School, $100.
• Honorable mentions: Bryn Holler, Katherine Keener and Ashley Adams of Northwestern High School; Ryanne Brodeur of York High School and Hannah Robinson of Rock Hill High School.
Rock Hill High student in running for scholarship
Margaret V. East, a student at Rock Hill High School, is a semifinalist for the 2009 Class of the Coca-Cola Scholars Program.
East ranks with approximately 2,142 high school seniors who are in the running for $3 million in college scholarships, which will be awarded in spring 2009.
