ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Elizabeth Simpson Crowder-Miller, 86, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A native of Chester, Mrs. Crowder was the daughter of the late Clive R. Simpson Sr. and the late Jessie Taylor Simpson. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army WAC, serving at Walter Reed Hospital during WWII and retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing with 34 years of service. She was a member of the Charlotte Avenue Church of Christ and was the widow of Vernon Miller and Cecil Crowder and was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Simpson.
Surviving are her son, Stan Neely and his wife, Mary, of Rock Hill; her brother, Clive R. Simpson Jr. of Columbia; her two grandchildren, Mason Neely of Providence, R.I., and Megan Neely Hoyt of Brooklyn, N.Y.; her great-granddaughter, Gemma Neely Hoyt; and her loving caregiver, Tina Bigham.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill.
Burial will be private.
