Man dies in crash with tanker along S.C. 5

A Rock Hill man died Friday night after a collision between a small pickup truck and a tanker off Reservation Road, authorities said.

Charles Mitchell Faulkenberry, 24, died in the crash, said York County Coroner Sabina Gast. Toxicology tests are pending. Fauklenberry was not wearing a seat belt, Gast said.

The collision happened around 7:45 p.m. along S.C. 5 and Reservation Road, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

No other details were available.

Family Dollar site of robbery, shooting

Rock Hill police are investigating a robbery and shooting Friday night at a Family Dollar store.

A clerk was shot during the robbery and was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, said Brad Redfearn, Rock Hill Police Department spokesman. The clerk's condition was not available late Friday.

The robbery happened at the Family Dollar on Saluda Street near downtown Rock Hill. Redfearn said the gunman used a small-caliber handgun and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
