South Pointe closed the half on a 9-2 run that included a 3-pointer from Diami Gilmore.
The first half included an oddity.
A Blythewood player checked into the game but was sent back to the bench because he had a shirt on under his jersey that was not allowed. The player obeyed, sat in a seat, removed his under shirt and pulled on his jersey.
The player was called for a technical foul for undressing on the bench.
South Pointe got the second started with a 13-4 run. Charles Holmes ignited the rally with a three-point play and finished off a fast break during the run. Holmes scored nine points on the night.
Jamar Banks scored nine of his 11 points in the fourth quarter for the Stallions. He tallied seven straight points in one late-game stretch.
Blythewood coach Mark Greiner said South Pointe controlled the second half.
"They pulled us out of our zone after the half. We have size limitations and they took advantage of that. We got beat by a better team," Greiner said.
South Pointe went into the season knowing they'd be without Stephon Gilmore, Devin Wherry and Jadeveon Clowney. But they still have plenty of horses in the barn.
Stallions coach Dwayne Hartsoe has his team off to a 9-3 start. The win Friday evened the team's region record at 1-1.
"We created some turnovers and got the pace where we wanted it. We played well in the second half," Hartsoe said.

--ROCK HILL 62 LANCASTER 50 -- Rock Hill picked up a huge Region 4-AAAA win over the visiting Lancaster Bruins getting 14 points from Xavier McFadden.
Rock Hill pulled away from Lancaster with a 10-0 run in the second quarter. The Bearcats never relinquished the lead despite a couple of Bruins surges in the second half.
Rock Hill used a 1-3-1 defense to hold the Bruins in check for most of the game. Point guard Dominic Cathcart was held scoreless in the opening half, but came alive late and ended the game with 11 points.
Each time Lancaster began to make a run at the Bearcats, Cathcart was there to answer with a composed jump shot or a pass down low for an easy bucket from Bearcat forward Colby Niven.
Niven ended the night with eight points and had several key defensive stops as the front man on the Rock Hill full-court press.
Rock Hill built a double digit lead only to see Lancaster draw to within five points midway through the final period, when the Bearcats salted the game away with free throws.
"We came out tonight and really responded well with our backs to the wall," Rock Hill coach Bobby Stevens said. "I thought that our defense was excellent and we hit our free throws down the stretch, which was huge."
