LEXINGTON, Va. -- Chavis Holmes scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help VMI hold off Gardner-Webb 94-88 on Saturday, tying the Keydets' school record for conference wins.
VMI (19-4) is 10-2 in Big South play for the first time in school history. In the 1995-96 season, VMI was 10-4 in the Southern Conference.
Travis Holmes scored 19 points for the Keydets. Willie Bell had 14 and Austin Kenon added 13.
C.J. Hailey led Gardner-Webb (11-12, 7-6) with 26 points, while Justin Henley added 17 points and 15 rebounds.
UNC Asheville 80, Charleston Southern 71 -- In Asheville, N.C., Reid Augst scored all 19 of his points in the second half and set a school record for 3-point shooting by going 5-for-5.
Augst also became the 24th Bulldogs player to surpass 1,000 career points. He now has 1,008.
The Bulldogs (11-13, 7-6 BSC)fell behind 18-6 in the first half. UNC Asheville rallied to lead 30-28 at intermission as the Buccaneers (7-15, 2-9) made only 3 of 11 free throws in the first half.
Radford 78, Presbyterian 61 -- In Radford, Va., Artsiom Parakhouski scored 21 points to lead the Highlanders.
Parakhouski added eight rebounds for Radford (13-10, 10-2 BSC), who have won four straight. Phillip Martin scored 16 points, and Amir Johnson added 15.
Bryan Bostic scored 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting for the Blue Hose (10-13, 7-5). Al'Lonzo Coleman added 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Presbyterian committed 21 turnovers, 13 of which were Radford steals.
Coastal Carolina 70, High Point 68 -- In High Point, N.C., Dexter Moore scored 23 points and Mario Sisinni hit a 3-pointer with 8 seconds left.
The Chanticleers (10-14, 4-8 BSC) won their first conference road game of the season and snapped a three-game skid.
The Panthers (6-17, 2-11) have lost eight of their last nine.
Led by freshman Nick Barbour, who scored 22 of his career-high 32 points in the first half, High Point had a 41-37 advantage at intermission.
