Clover's Jet Turner has been named an assistant coach for South Carolina's 2009 Shrine Bowl All-Star Football Game.
The game, the 73rd, will be played on Dec. 19 at Wofford College's Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg.
Clover is 33-8 under Turner since the Blue Eagles moved up to Class AAAA three seasons ago. The 2006 team went 6-0 in the region in its first year and won the Region 3-AAAA title.
Last year's team was 13-2 overall, 5-1 in the region and won the Class AAAA Division II state championship. This year's team finished 9-4 and second in the region at 4-1.
Johnsonville's Lewis Lineberger will be the head coach. His other assistants are Lauren's Mike Hawkins, Timberland's Art Craig, North Myrtle Beach's Denver Cromer, Midland Valley's Rick Knight and Carvers Bay's Nate Thompson.
North Carolina's head coach will be Charlotte Catholic's Jim Oddo. His assistants are Smithfield-Selma's Anthony Barbour, Dudley's Stephen Davis, East Bladed's Lenon Fisher, Eastern Alamance's Robbie Harris, Butler's Mike Newsome and West Rowan's Scott Young.
South Carolina won last year's game 24-16 and leads the series 40-28-4.
