Donald Franklin Harris

Mr. Donald Franklin Harris, 77, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009, at his home.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009, at Lakewood Baptist Church, with the Revs. Andy Simpson and James Young officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Columbia.

A native of Kannapolis, N.C., Mr. Harris was a son of the late David Leighton Harris and the late Mary Christine Black Harris. He was a retired Vietnam U.S. Army veteran and also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Iris Ward Harris; his daughter, Janice Giroux and her husband, Jeff, of Rock Hill; his brother, David A. Harris and his wife, Arlene, of Charlotte, N.C.; his sisters, Ethel Garrison and her husband, Watts, of Charlotte, N.C., and Frances Holshouser and her husband, Glenn, of Rockwell, N.C.; his granddaughter, Sarah Rudisill; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Harris's name to Regency Hospice, 1924 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732; or Lakewood Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3520 Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
