CHARLESTON -- North Charleston police have arrested two men and two women accused of kidnapping and raping a woman contacted through Craigslist this week.
Police say the suspects emptied the woman’s bank account, stole her car and raided her Columbia apartment after she agreed to meet and have paid sex with a man she met on the Web site.
Police charged Troy Saxby, 27, of North Charleston and Kendrick Fulton, 22, of Mount Pleasant with kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, grand larceny of a motor vehicle and strong-arm robbery.
Police also charged Brittany Coakley, 19, of North Charleston and Patience Nwaogbe, 27, of North Charleston with kidnapping, grand larceny of a motor vehicle and strong-arm robbery.
Police say the suspects dropped the victim off at an Ashley Phosphate Road hotel early Monday.
Officers arrived and noted she had a small cut on her left wrist, gray duct tape still attached to one of her pants legs and small amounts of blood on her jacket.
The woman told officers she had met a man Sunday on Craigslist who texted her and offered her $550 for sex. They exchanged texts and she agreed to arrive at an Ottawa Street home for $600, according to a police report.
Once at the home, a second man grabbed her from behind and put her into a choke hold until she passed out. When she woke up, she was surrounded by two men wearing bandannas over their faces and a woman wearing a black mask.
Another woman went through her purse and asked for her bank PIN, the report said.
The woman told police one of the suspects went to remove the $33.80 in her account as others argued about whether to kill her or let her go.
The suspects then duct-taped her mouth, hands and feet.
One of the female suspects drove the victim’s car to Columbia to go through her apartment.
The report said two of the suspects later raped the victim. They dropped her off at the hotel five hours later, the report said.
