Local folks contribute to Empty Stocking Fund
The Empty Stocking Fund is an annual effort to help needy families in the newspaper's readership area at the holidays. This year, the fund has partnered with the United Way of York County to provide toys and food to area families. The following have contributed to the Empty Stocking Fund for the week ending Dec. 11:

Lights on the Lake yields winners
Lake Wylie's annual Lights on the Lake parade had 20 decorated boats participate the Dec. 12 parade. The winners of the contest were Ken Chapman, first place; Brad Thomas, second place; Chris Kropac, third place; Tom and Maggie Gantert and Ben Harper, honorable mentions.
Family Trust makes seasonal donations
Family Trust Federal Credit Union donated $3,500 to Tender Hearts on Dec. 16 and $10,000 to the Children's Attention Home and the Children's Attention Home Charter School on Dec. 18. All proceeds were raised by Family Trust employees, who are on track to raise more than $45,000 this year.
