Snow didn’t stop Herald carrier
During the bad weather last weekend, the newspaper delivery person for Herlong Ridge subdivision here in Rock Hill was very kind to my neighbors and me. He got out of his car and walked on the icy driveways to put our newspapers closer to the porches where we retired folks could get them easily and safely.
It happened Saturday and Sunday morning. I was up at that time on Sunday and saw him doing this for us.
We are all very glad we got him as our deliverer when our lady left last year.
Perhaps it might be a nice idea for folks to write into the paper to acknowledge the random acts of kindness over this past weekend. We like to hear about the good, humane things.
Thank you on behalf of myself and my neighbors.

School board had its mind made up
I had to smile when I picked up the Herald and read,” Rock Hill schools opt for reassignment.” Obviously the schools did not opt for this; the school board did.
As a bloodied veteran of the school board vs. concerned parents at “The Battle of South Pointe,” I can honestly tell the now-beaten parents: I feel your pain. It is always amusing to me that the school board even bothers to “hear the parents.” Their minds are made up far in advance of any “open meetings.”
On the other side of that same token, it really saddens me to see elected officials who completely ignore the community and the parents of our school-aged kids. But, should we really be surprised? Insanity has been defined as doing the same thing time and again expecting a different outcome. Well, electing the same officials time and again results in the same outcomes. There is really only one way to change that direction, and that is to put people onto the school board who are more interested in school success than social engineering. I can only thank God that my kids are now grown and do not have to endure any more of that.
